Swami Muktananda
Swami Muktananda of Rishikesh is a Hindu monk originally from Quebec, Canada. Born in 1960 and raised Catholic, he met his guru, Swami Chidananda, at the age of 9—a meeting that would shape the course of his life. At 20, he dedicated himself fully to the spiritual path, though at his Master's request, he first served his family and society as a teacher and businessman in Montreal. During this time, he lived the teachings of the Indian sages integrating spiritual wisdom into everyday life. He later studied Advaita Vedanta under Swami Brahmananda and was formally initiated into the ancient order of sannyasa by Swami Chidananda in 1999 at the original Sivananda Ashram in Rishikesh where he has since made his home.
Swami Muktananda realized the Self and soon began receiving requests from seekers around the world. Encouraged by his Master to teach, he has led meditation retreats and shared the universal path of nondual Self-Knowledge in numerous countries including France, Italy, the U.S., Australia, and South America. Known for his warmth, clarity, and compassion, his teachings are practical and rooted in direct experience welcoming people of all ages and backgrounds. Swamiji’s focus is to help others awaken to their true nature and live each day from the peace and joy of the Infinite. He is the author of Awakening to the Infinite and L’Éveil à L’infini.
